Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Health Department carried out a major administrative reshuffle late Monday night, appointing new Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) in Varanasi and Siddharthnagar and assigning eight medical officers as Chief Medical Superintendents (CMS) of government hospitals across the state
The orders were issued on Monday by Health Department Special Secretary Ravi Ranjan as part of a series of transfers and new postings in the Provincial Medical and Health Services cadreNew CMOs AppointedDr Narendra Pratap Singh, a Joint Director-level officer in the Provincial Medical and Health Services cadre, has been appointed the new Chief Medical Officer of Varanasi.
He was earlier posted as Joint Director in the office of the Additional Director, Medical Health, Mirzapur DivisionDr Sanjay Kumar Dohre, who was serving as Senior Consultant at Veerangana Avanti Bai Women’s Hospital in Lucknow, has been appointed CMO of SiddharthnagarTwo senior consultants from government hospitals in Varanasi have also been given CMS responsibilities. Dr Satya Prakash, Senior Consultant at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Government Hospital, Varanasi, and Dr Praveer Ranjan, Senior Consultant at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, Ramnagar, Varanasi, have been assigned the charge of CMS.

The department has appointed Dr Manoj Kumar Akhauri as CMS of the District Combined Hospital in ShamliDr Ajay Mohan has been posted as CMS of Shri Ram Hospital in Ayodhya, while Dr Shambhu Dayal will head the District Women’s Hospital in GondaDr Pramod Kumar Dohre has been assigned as CMS of the 100-bed Combined Hospital in Unnao. Dr Anil Kumar Shukla has been appointed CMS of the 100-bed Combined Hospital in HardoiDr Amitabh Srivastava has been given charge as CMS of Lok Bandhu Raj Narayan Combined Hospital in Lucknow.

As many as 28 Provincial Police Service (PPS) officers who were promoted to the Indian Police Service (IPS) are awaiting new assignments. The schools comprise 68 government inter colleges and 58 government high schools constructed and transferred under the PM Jan Vikas ProgrammeThe newly created posts include 68 principal positions, 58 headmaster posts, 680 lecturer positions, 819 LT-grade assistant teacher posts and 185 junior assistant postsAn order in this regard has been issued by Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Basic and Secondary Education Department.
Half of the posts will be filled through direct recruitment through the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, while the remaining 50 per cent will be filled through promotion.
Classes to Begin from 2026-27 Session
The government is preparing to make the newly established schools operational from the academic session 2026-27. The schools will have an intake capacity of 80 students each in Classes 6 and 9. The necessary recruitment and administrative procedures are expected to be completed soon to enable classes to begin in the new academic sessionThe developments reflect a broader administrative push by the Uttar Pradesh government to strengthen leadership in healthcare institutions, reorganise the police administration and expand the state’s government secondary education infrastructure.
